Hawaii’s largest annual rice event teams up with Eat The Street and will be held on Auahi Street fronting Ward Centre
Rice Fest is an opportunity for people from a variety of cultures to come together and celebrate the unique elements that unite them.
This year marks the 7th Annual Rice Fest and will be at Ward Village on September 25, 2016 from 11am to 5pm. The event will take place on Auahi Street, fronting Ward Centre, Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx.
At the Rice Fest, you will experience Hawaii’s culinary diversity via food demonstrations, entertainment, and more. This festival celebrates the world’s melting pot for the otherwise ordinary grain. This daily staple is transformed and infused with new and fantastic flavors that tantalize the taste buds.
Rice Fest will include live entertainment, celebrity & chef cooking competitions, and a SPAM musubi eating contest and a Poke Bowl eating contest. This year, the SPAMERICAN Tour Mobile will also make a public appearance at the event.
Participating restaurants include Bao Boys, Chamorro Grindz, Da Bolalohan, Hawaii’s Fried Musubi, Indian Grill, Mega-Load Burgers, Musukawas, The Pig & The Lady, Sweet Creams and Waimanalo Country Farms.
One of the primary initiatives for this event is to bring awareness to Lanakila Meals on Wheels, a wonderful program that helps to feed Hawaii’s hungry seniors. They will be accepting monetary and rice donations all day long at the Lanakila Pacific booth at the Rice Fest.
Recommended parking is at the Pier One/ TJ Maxx parking garage.
The event sponsors include VH07V Revolution, Ward Village, The Hawaiian Electric Companies, SPAMERICAN Food Truck Tour, Oceanic Time Warner Cable, Paina Café, Street Grindz, PROForma Favorable Impressions, Channel808, AT Marketing and Yelp Honolulu.
