Exhibition Overview

Every year on the third day of the third month, families throughout Japan honor daughters by displaying in their homes an elaborate collection of dolls decorated to resemble court nobles from the Heian era (794-1185). Hina matsuri (literally, “Doll Festival,” but commonly known in English as “Girls’ Day”) and its custom of displaying dolls did, in fact, originate during the Heian era. At the time, dolls were thought to be capable of absorbing evil spirits and purifying one’s home.

ARTafterDARK is the Honolulu Museum of Arts’ monthly art party organized by a dynamic group of young volunteers dedicated to exploring the arts. ARTafterDARK is held on the last Friday of the month, January 25th 2013,  from 6 to 9pm on the grounds of the Honolulu Museum Art.


Admission is free for Museum members and $10 for non-members.

Upon arriving at the front gate of the Museum, you will see two separate lines. The line on the right is the Museum member line. Member’s will be required to show their membership cards to verify their current membership status.

The line on the left is for general admission. You may use cash or credit card to pay for your admission fee. We do not pre-sell admission for ARTafterDARK.

Here is an announcement  from one of  great photographer Tracy Wright Corvo as Hawaii Local Artist  She will have The Photo Exhibit at HPU Gallery in Hawaii.

Tracy's art project entitled Girls Will be Girls, opens on January 20th at the Hawai’i Pacific University Art Gallery in Kanehoe.

"I was one of five artists selected to show their work in 2013. My work will be on view from January 20th through March 1, 2013. I am sharing the gallery space with artist William Williams III."

Ryokan Ara is a monk at Tendai mission of Hawaii.
Ryokan Ara was born in Hukushima and raise up at Sendai. I was born  and raise up at Sendai too. Hawaii Web TV President was born in Hukushima.
He is an artist and poemnist.
