THAT REFLECT LOCAL LIFESTYLES IN HAWAII

Zippy’s, the iconic restaurant chain known for its comfort-driven local plates, recently launched two new T-shirt designs.  The shirts—available in short and long sleeves—are sold online, ranging from $14 to $17 in price.

One arrangement juxtaposes the names of popular local dishes and beverages, such as Chili & Chicken Mixed Plate, Saimin, Zip Pac, Oxtail Soup, Chili Moco, Korean Fried Chicken, and French Toast within the framework of the letters in “NEXT STOP,” while featuring the round red and white Zippy’s logo as the letter “O.”  This design is available in two colors:  black and white.

The other shirt pattern features four icons, with each symbol labeled “Train,” “Eat,” “Sleep,” and “Repeat.”  It is available in grey and beige.

All shirts come in sizes ranging from S to 2XL, and retail for $14 for short-sleeve, and $17 for long sleeve.  The “Next Stop” shirt is also available in children’s sizes for $10.50.

“These shirts define our local culture,” says Jason Higa, Chief Executive Officer.  One depicts all the foods with which we grew up including those that continue to be popular, especially among the locals who dine at our restaurants.  The other promotes the ideal routine for local life in Hawaii.  We believe these would make for great omiyage to share a little bit of the Hawaiian lifestyle with those who did not make the trip over.

Zippy’s Restaurants in Hawaii owns and operates 24 locations throughout the islands, some of which are open 24 hours a day.

About ZIPPY’S HAWAII

Founded by Francis and Charles Higa on October 17, 1966, Zippy’s first opened at 1725 South King Street in McCully as a fast food counter with a “saimin lanai” in back.  By serving “ono” (delicious) local food at reasonable prices for half a century, the restaurant became an iconic institution widely known among Hawaii residents for its quality, comfort-rooted plates.

Now, visitors and locals—including those from Hawaii living overseas—have come to crave flavors such as the signature Original Recipe Chili, chili moco, loco moco, golden fried chicken, Korean fried chicken, famous Zip Pac ®, oxtail soup, saimin, Apple Napple ®, and malasadas.  Expanding the brand to incorporate other operations such as Napoleon’s Bakery®, Osaka Okazuya, Kahala Sushi at Zippy’s Kahala, and the Sushi Bar at Zippy’s Pearl City, Hawaii’s most beloved local food establishment now boasts 24 locations statewide, with 22 on Oahu and two on the neighbor islands of Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii.
