Kai Coffee Hawaii Now Crafts Its Own Pastries In-house at Its New Location Serving Locals
Immediately after Kai Coffee its first location at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa two years ago, it gained acclaim from visitors and residents, where it was lauded to serve some of the best coffee in Hawaii, even by the local media. The Hawaiian coffee specialty boutique then set its sights on Downtown, where it opened a second location on South King Street on May 16, 2016.
Besides serving its craft-brewed coffees ranging from cortados to lattes, the café also has its own in-house bakery, which produces pastries spanning the gamut from savory to sweet. Besides the usual suspects of croissants, scones, and cakes, expect to discover unique creations such as the soustenirs—ciabatta and focaccia breads baked with toppings such as pastrami and onion, Black Forest ham and cheddar cheese, and even BLT. To round out the menu, a few salads and stew selections will be rotated regularly, along with featured desserts.
“While we are used to serving the Waikiki community, we are excited about bringing our product to a location that is even more accessible to locals,” says owner Samuel Suiter. “We want people to really understand our commitment to quality, feeling true aloha in every cup.”
Kai Coffee in Downtown is located at 207 South King Street, and is open from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (closed Saturday and Sunday).
