The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, and the Hawaii State Art Museum (HiSAM) invite you to experience an unforgettable evening of Fashion as Art on First Friday during Hawaii Fashion Month.

Under the creative direction of Moana Events, Hawaii designers will showcase evening and bridal gowns against the stunning backdrop of the HiSAM sculpture garden, with a soundscape by DJ Teley Brandon.  Featured designers include: Nicole Vermillion, Lauren Tiburcio, Beverly Horton, Bernard Foong, Sarah Yamashige, Randy A. Leano, Jaclyn Mae Santos, Chun Hui Chen, Sahra Indio, Feliz Salas, Alegra Matsuo Mossman & Michele Y. Matsuo, Ryan Hanaoka, Erin Midori Ludolph, and Breanne Lee.  Designers will be paired with industry mentors including Eric Chandler, Takeo Kobayashi, Dianne Washington Kay, and Senator Will Espero.  Attendees are encouraged to engage with the theme and don black tie and evening attire.

The evening marks the opening of ‘THE WAY WE WEAR’, an exhibit that offers a glimpse of who we are as a people, through our clothing from various times and histories.  The display features selections from the Hawaii State Foundation’s Art in Public Places Collection and exemplary pieces on loan from the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Historic Costume Museum. It will be on view at HiSAM through December 2013.
