＊What is DRPLA?
It is one of the spinocerebellar degeneration commonly known as DRPLA (Dentatorubral-pallidoluysian atrophy) that Chiaki was diagnosed. This is genetic and very rare disease. It most often involves episodes of involuntary muscle jerking or twitching; seizures; behavioral changes; intellectual disability; and problems with balance and coordination. Epileptic seizures occur in all individuals as well. DRPLA is a progressive brain disorder that may lead to death.

“Discovery of cure and the society where anyone can live happily” My husband Chiaki was TV director. He traveled all over the world to collect data and then created a program for people who fight against hardships as a theme. In addition, he was devoted to find cure after he was diagnosed with DRPLA. He hoped that medicine would be made while our daughter (Kuri) was existed. I want everybody to know about DRPLA. Please spread the word to others. I believe that leads to discover the cure for DRPLA.

DRPLA is a genetic disease therefore I don’t know why both of them fell into critical condition at same time. I believe that he knew his time came as he left us after he made sure that Kuri was fully recovered. I also believe that he was telling me that “Take good care of Kuri so you don’t have to care for two people anymore. Please take care of yourself as well.”
As I believe Chiaki is watching us from heaven, I live together with Kuri and support one another from now on.
